Working among Racial Difference on Colonized Land: Strengthening Cultural Competency in our Organizations

November 2 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$140

A walk through the city of Winnipeg shows the rich racial and cultural tapestry that makes up our community. With such diversity comes the opportunity and need to build positive and respectful relationships with our neighbors, co-workers, and fellow citizens.

For nonprofit organizations, in particular, working safely and respectfully among racial and cultural difference is critical. Movements like Idle No More and Black Lives Matter, and the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, have helped us more fully understand and acknowledge the presence of racism and colonization in our country, cities and organizations. Work in strengthening Organizational Cultural Competency is a way in which organizations can be active in dismantling racism and building cultural safety within their organizations and the broader communities.

United Way’s Learning Centre is pleased to partner with Jackie Hogue of J. Hogue and Associates to bring you the workshop, Working among Racial Difference on Colonized Land: Strengthening Cultural Competency in our Organizations. This interactive workshop is designed for Executive Directors, managers, and program staff of non-profit organizations.

Join Jackie Hogue at United Way’s Learning Centre on Thursday, November 2 for this full day workshop beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. Registration is $140 per person and includes a light lunch.

If cost is a barrier to participation, please call Tamara Ingrilli at 204-924-4242 or email tingrilli@unitedwaywinnipeg.mb.ca.
