DESCRIPTION:Presented by Canadian Plains Gallery\nProgrammed and hosted by Jacques St. Goddard and David McLeod \nRED CITY VOICES\nThursday\, April 23rd – 7pm – 9:00pm\nPresented in person at Canadian Plains Gallery\nB1 – 290 McDermot Avenue\, Winnipeg\nDownstairs\, one floor\, unfortunately there is no elevator access \n\nWinter is for storytelling\, Red City Voices is wrapping up the season until fall 2026 with the multi-award winning katherena vermette\, an accomplished Métis novelist\, poet\, and author on Thursday\, April 23\, 2026.\n\n\n\nkatherena is the recipient of a Governor General’s Literary Award for English-language poetry for her first collection\, North End Love Songs. Her novel The Break won the Amazon. ca First Novel Award\, the Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction\, the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award\, and was a finalist for the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. The Strangers novel and won the 2021 Atwood Gibson Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. Katherena lives in Winnipeg on Treaty 1 territory.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEVERYONE IS WELCOME!\n\nRED CITY VOICES welcomes current and up-incoming Indigenous writers as part of the gathering. Please note\, the open mic is limited to 5 minutes to allow others to share within our designated schedule.
