Creative Manitoba is proud to offer our members and 245 McDermot tenants the chance to participate in our Expert Advice for Indie Artists Program, which provides access to personalized one-on-one coaching with arts professionals.

Date: Thursday, November 1, 2018

Time: Various sessions available between 9:45 am and 3:15 pm

Price: $30/hour for Creative Manitoba members (video conferencing available)

Areas of expertise:

  • Applying for an exhibition or festival
  • How to navigate terms and conditions of an application
  • Working with non-commercial galleries
  • Your rights as an artist

If there is an exhibition or festival you would like to apply to please be prepared to share that. You will not write the application together, but you will leave with the tools to know what is expected of you on the application.

Coach: Jennifer Smith is a Métis curator, writer and arts administrator. Jennifer has been working in arts administration for ten years, and has worked for organizations such as the Costume Museum of Canada, the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library, CARFAC Manitoba, and currently at Video Pool Media Arts Centre. Jennifer is the President of the board for the Coalition of Canadian Independent Media Art Distributors that runs VUCAVU.com. She has curated exhibits and video programs for the Manitoba Craft Council, Video Pool Media Arts Centre, Open City Cinema, MAWA, and the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library. Jennifer was the Indigenous Curator in Residence at aceartinc. from March to August 2018.

Cancellation policy

Creative Manitoba reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for an event that is cancelled by Creative Manitoba will receive a full refund.

Registrants may cancel up to one week before the event to receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel within one week of the event start date. No refunds will be issued for registrants who do not attend.

Substitute participants are allowed in most cases, but not all. Please check with us ahead of time if you wish to send a substitute participant by calling 204-927-2787.
