SUMMARY:Mending with Tradition
DESCRIPTION:In this multifaceted exhibition\, Jannuska explores Indigenous storytelling through a large mixed media comic and a variety of mixed media art pieces. ‘The Wolf and the Eagle in the Rain’ comic focuses on the personal stories of growth and perseverance of knowledge keeper Debbie Huntinghawk (Chapter 1)\, Julia Stoneman (Chapter 2)\, and land-based teacher Grace Masse (Chapter 3). The comic is heavily connected to the Brandon\, MB community\, with Jannuska having met all three women while they were all attending Brandon University\, and appearances in the comic from other local Brandon elders. The show explores themes of motherhood\, community\, ceremony\, the Red Road\, grief\, and self-exploration. The comic chapters have given Jannuska the ability to create a visual language for how she views the beautiful intricacies of Indigenous spirituality and healing.

SUMMARY:Making Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Run: September 11th – October 24th\, 2026\nOpening reception: September 11th | 6-9pm \nMaking Conversation brings together four artists who are in deep conversation with matter and material.  These artists are all closely connected to their craft\, maintaining a posture of curiosity towards their respective materials\, exploring new ways of making\, and pushing the confines and traditions of their medium: crossing boundaries between media\, finding unconventional uses for otherwise overlooked materials\, employing and subverting a material’s inherent properties\, and allowing the process of making to inform and conceptualize the work being made. This process serves as evidence of the dialogue that has occurred between the artist and their medium\, a visual transcript that gives the viewer permission to eavesdrop on what was surely a scintillating exchange.” -Chelsey Thiessen\, In an excerpt from her curatorial essay \nCurator: Chelsey Thiessen\nArtists: Grace Han\, Lin Xu\, Suzie Smith\, and Shelley McCafferty \nThis exhibition is possible from the support of Canada Council for the Arts\, Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council

SUMMARY:Cyrano de Bergerac
DESCRIPTION:A gifted wordsmith and legendary duelist\, Cyrano de Bergerac disarms with a flick of a sword and his rapier wit. Unrivalled in battle\, Cyrano loses all swagger when it comes to matters of the heart. In a world that judges a book by its cover\, the poet with “the nose” has sworn off finding a lover. Loyal to a fault\, Cyrano smothers the sparks of his own attraction to Roxane to woo her on behalf of a fellow soldier. Will he rip off the mask or forever deny his own heart? \nShowcasing swashbuckling duels\, witty repartee and a love triangle for the ages\, this contemporary adaptation will have us rooting once again for the noble Cyrano.
