Website Canadian Band Association

deadline: October 15, 2018

The Canadian Band Association (CBA) is seeking an energetic, dedicated individual who is passionate about wind band music to serve as the editor of one of the organization’s flagship projects, Canadian Winds.

Canadian Winds is one of the leading journals in North America dedicated to all aspects of the wind band profession, including (but not limited to) educational, practical and historical articles for the edification of our membership. The journal is published semi-annually, with a print and online subscription of over 1700.

The Canadian Band Association is a non-profit charitable organization that acts as an umbrella group for provincial band chapters across Canada. Our two flagship programs, the National Youth Band and Canadian Winds serve to connect all of our members through wind band activities. It is our hope that the successful candidate will consider this editorship a “passion project” and serve as a leader within the Canadian wind band community.

We seek an editor who is passionate and knowledgeable about the Canadian wind band landscape, attentive to detail, and can work well independently, as well as part of a team. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be knowledgeable in a variety of academic writing styles. Experience with editing in an academic setting is not a requirement, but considered a strong asset. Bilingual (French & English) skills will also be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shadow our outgoing, retiring editor, Dr. Tim Maloney, for the Fall 2019 issue. This will facilitate a smooth transition in order to understand the processes involved with publishing the journal.

Individuals interested in applying should send the following materials in order to be considered for the position:

  • An application letter
  • A current curriculum vitae
  • An academic writing sample (no more than 3000 words)
  • 3 letters of reference

Please send all materials electronically to:
