Box Office Coordinator
Overview:
The Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF) is seeking a Box Office Coordinator to help lead our Box Office operations as the festival embarks on this milestone year, its 25th anniversary. The Box Office Coordinator will manage all aspects of the GIFF’s Box Office, which includes both our physical point-of-sale location for all GIFF tickets, passes and merchandise, as well as our online ticket-selling platform (via Eventive). It’s imperative that this role keeps detailed, accurate account of daily monetary transactions completed, while reporting back daily to the Operations Manager.
About GIFF:
The Gimli International Film Festival is Manitoba’s premier film festival, and the largest rural film festival in Canada. We show the best contemporary cinema from Manitoba, Canada and around the world. This includes narrative and documentary, live action and animated, in short, mid-length, and feature film formats from across the globe. Our festival takes place annually on the last weekend of July (from Wednesday evening to Sunday night) in the picturesque lakeside community of Gimli. We screen over 100 films and provide our patrons with post-screening Q&As, industry sessions, and networking events, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the Interlake region. We value our artists and are committed to paying standard rate screening fees as outlined in the IMAA Fee Schedule.

Ideal Candidate:
- Are you our ideal candidate? We are looking for an individual who possesses:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proven record as a multitasker capable of juggling numerous and distinct priorities and relationships with grace under pressure in a variety of circumstances.
- Great organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to become fully informed on all aspects of the festival, from operations to festival passes to various programming available the festival
- A passion for film and the broader arts
- Understanding of technical Box Office equipment; ability to proficiently train and manage our Box Office Volunteer team.
- Proven ability to support the organization’s goals and priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the Operations Manager, Programming Committee, and Branding Committee to create and execute the action plan for sale and distribution of festival passes and film tickets including (but not limited to):
- Develop and execute all ticket, passes and merchandise sales through the GIFF Box Office (opening in June).
- Secure Box Office, design layout and equipment needed for box ticket office using existing furniture and equipment and within budget, and location set up including:
- Receive equipment from storage, re-check inventory list and update/order new supplies as necessary.
- Secure and ad as necessary new and loaned electronics needed including laptops, tablets, iPhones, printers, Wi-Fi, phones, radios, cash boxes, etc.
- With Operations Manager and using previous years’ plans, develop and execute daily sales records for:
- Pass & ticket sales at Box Office
- Raffle ticket sales
- Merchandise sales
- Venue walk-up ticket sales
- Daily cash outs & deposits
- Attend staff meetings and update festival staff on Box Office action plan.
- Assist in the coordination of Box Office volunteers with Volunteer Coordinator by developing volunteer duties & schedules needed, share with volunteer coordinator, train Box Office volunteers.
- Update action plan as needed and write a final report (Aug)
- Create Box Office reports (Aug)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role; working towards or possessing a degree or diploma in event management, customer service, arts/recreation, information technology, communications/marketing or business/administrative management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and related software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Experience and ability to multi-task, exhibit consistent follow-through and work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
