Logistics Coordinator

Overview:

The Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF) is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to help support the operations and programming team in the execution of our 25th festival. The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for rented vehicles, ground transportations for the festival’s invited guests, and the transport, tracking and setup/strike of all festival rentals.

About GIFF:

The Gimli International Film Festival is Manitoba’s premier film festival, and the largest rural film festival in Canada. We show the best contemporary cinema from Manitoba, Canada and around the world. This includes narrative and documentary, live action and animated, in short, mid-length, and feature film formats from across the globe. Our festival takes place annually on the last weekend of July (from Wednesday evening to Sunday night) in the picturesque lakeside community of Gimli. We screen over 100 films and provide our patrons with post-screening Q&As, industry sessions, and networking events, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the Interlake region. We value our artists and are committed to paying standard rate screening fees as outlined in the IMAA Fee Schedule.

Ideal Candidate:

Are you our ideal candidate? We are looking for an individual who possesses:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A record as a proven multitasker capable of juggling numerous and distinct priorities and relationships with grace under pressure in a variety of circumstances.
  • Great organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to disseminate information for upcoming actions and events.
  • Capable of inspiring and motivating volunteers
  • A love of film and the broader arts
  • Proven ability to support the organization’s goals and priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the rental, pick up and return of vehicles from/to the rental company.
  • Working proactively with all departments to anticipate all transportation needs (people and materials) in advance of the festival
  • Coordinating ground transportation for all invited guests, as per schedules provided by the Executive Director and Lead Programmer.
  • Ensuring secure overnight parking of fleet vehicles.
  • Working with our Volunteer coordinator to schedule drivers.
  • Being on-call to field any additional last minute transportation requests that may arise during the festival
  • Creating and implementing an itemized inventory and packing lists, sign in/out protocol to ensure adequate location tracking of all festival materials and prevent lost/missing items.
  • Distributing festival guides to various locations throughout the city as per the distribution plan developed by the Marketing Coordinator and Executive Director.
  • Providing detailed postmortem notes and archived files relevant to the position and the work accomplished following the festival.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 year in a similar role within festival production; Bachelor’s Degree in related field highly preferred.
  • High-level organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to participate ‘hands on’ in set ups and strikes, such as lifting and pushing objects of up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Customer service experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and related software.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 50-pound objects throughout the course of a shift
