Sponsorships Coordinator
Overview:
The Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF) is seeking a Sponsorships Coordinator to help manage, organize, and communicate with a diverse group of GIFF sponsors and VIP guests for its milestone 25th anniversary year. This role is designed to maintain sponsor relations, manage GIFF’s special events and facilitate the participation of attending sponsors, dignitaries, industry representatives and other VIP guests of the festival, and will report directly to the Executive Director.
About GIFF:
The Gimli International Film Festival is Manitoba’s premier film festival, and the largest rural film festival in Canada. We show the best contemporary cinema from Manitoba, Canada and around the world. This includes narrative and documentary, live action and animated, in short, mid-length, and feature film formats from across the globe. Our festival takes place annually on the last weekend of July (from Wednesday evening to Sunday night) in the lakeside community of Gimli. We screen over 100 films and provide our patrons with post-screening Q&As, industry sessions, and networking events, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the Interlake region. We value our artists and are committed to paying standard rate screening fees as outlined in the IMAA Fee Schedule.

- A love of film and the broader arts
- Proven ability to support the organization’s goals and priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Working with the Executive Director and GIFF’s Development Committee review all Festival sponsorship contracts and create/execute an action plan to ensure each sponsor receives their sponsorship benefits including onsite signage, onsite presence, program ads, social media posts, Festival VIP passes and tickets, etc.
– Working with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Programming Coordinator, sponsors, community partners and GIFF’s Marketing Committee, lead sponsor relations during the festival and ensure all sponsors receive proper acknowledgements for the festival, according to their sponsorship agreements. This includes:
- Create mail list for all sponsors and other VIPs and distribute invitations and accreditation materials as required.
- Work with Programming Coordinator to identify visiting filmmaker guests and coordinate their schedules.
- Identify all out-of-town attending guests and determine specific needs (housing, transportation, translation services, etc.) in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator and the Programming Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting of communications with confirmed guests.
– Plan and execute Opening Night Reception, YFP Dinner, Filmmaker Mingle, and Awards Reception, with support and guidance from the Executive Director and Festival Manager, including booking all caterers and bartenders, managing a guest list for all events, managing a team of volunteers for events, and ensuring delivery and installation of all décor, A/V equipment and craft services for events.
– Updating/writing scripts for announcements and awards hosting
– Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in the coordination of guest service/hospitality volunteers.
– Write and send VIP guest appreciation / invitation letters.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year in a similar role; Working towards or possessing a degree or diploma in event management, hospitality/recreation/tourism, communications/marketing or business/administrative management
- Excellent organizational, writing and verbal communication in English. Fluency in speaking and writing in an Official Language Minority is a definite asset.
- Experience and ability to multi-task, exhibit consistent follow-through and work independently.
- Proven strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeaner; outgoing and friendly personality, solid customer service skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and social media
- Possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license.
