Volunteer Opportunity

We are currently looking for volunteers to join the Music Equals Committee, which meets six times per year for about an hour. The Music Equals Committee develops strategies to reach out to the community through music and plans and implements the annual Showcase Concert featuring performances from participating students.

Time Commitment

The Committee meets monthly from October – May plus attendance at the Showcase Concert. If you are interested in giving back to the community, please consider getting involved with Music Equals.

Music Equals is funded entirely by the community – private foundations and donations. To learn more about the Music Equals program and how you can support our musical community by volunteering or with a monetary gift, contact Domanie at outreach@mcma.ca.

About the Music Equals Program

The Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts (MCMA) is always working towards “making music accessible for all”. It is on that premise that the Music Equals Program develops outreach programs to connect youth and families in our most underserved communities with music opportunities. We believe that everyone should have access to music education and performances, regardless of social, physical or economic situations. Music Equals focuses on building stronger communities through music. We reach out to the community with opportunities to learn music in a supportive and safe environment, and a chance to unlock creative expression and the potential for excellence. Playing and listening to music provides a way to express ourselves in a positive way, is a precursor to all other learning, and builds the social skills necessary to engage with those around us.
