Aria Evans (Political Movement) is seeking 8 local dance artists of all ages, cultural backgrounds, gender identities and movement disciplines for a research based creative process. Only Winnipeg based artists are welcome to submit and applicants must NOT be an undergraduate or pre-professional student. Priority will be given to BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+ artists.
Fee: CADA hourly rates – $35/hour. For this first research stage, artists will be working in pairs and can expect to be booked for approximately 25 – 30 hours between October – December 2024.
As a choreographer, my training is rooted in Western Contemporary Dance, however I work collaboratively with the artists who I bring into a creative process, across dance styles, to generate movement material.
The work that is being cast will look at themes of connection, artists will be asked to speak, play games and dance with each other in both improvisational and set settings. Consent will be centered and spoken about throughout the creative process.
To see a reference for Aria’s work please visit: www.politicalmovement.ca/work. All artists will be contacted regarding their submission, select artists will be asked to have a 15 minute zoom chat or phone call with Aria to make sure that the project is in alignment to both their interests.
