A three-day pitch workshop and competition for Canadian producers with feature projects in development. Power Pitch is an unprecedented opportunity for Canadian producers to pitch their projects to some of the top sales agents, broadcasters and distributors in the industry.

Applications Open: August 4, 2020
Deadline: September 24, 2020

Up to ten finalists including up to three Wild Card participants from WFF’s Producers Lab will be chosen by a selection committee to compete for a $41,000 prize package, that includes a $1,000 cash prize and a $40,000 production package featuring a $10,000 post production credit from Encore Vancouver, and a $10,000 studio credit, $10,000 lighting and grip credit and a $10,000 camera credit from Sim. Additionally, the winner will receive the opportunity to meet privately with each jury member to receive invaluable feedback and advice on their project as well as forge formidable relationships with the industry executives.

Pitching is one of the most coveted skills filmmakers must have in order to succeed in the film world. The skills are key and yet sometimes difficult to master. Finalists will participate in a workshop and training under the direction of LA-based industry veteran and pitch master, Carole Kirschner. The Director of the WGA Showrunner Training Program and CBS Diversity Writers Mentoring Program had previously acted as a development executive at CBS and VP of Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment Television. Kirschner will direct participants on the ins and outs of how to successfully pitch their project. The Power Pitch Workshop is designed to enable the selected filmmakers to master the art of the pitch and provide them with an opportunity to hone their skills to ultimately sell their projects.

Power Pitch Competition:

The finalists will have 6 minutes to pitch their feature film to three senior executives from recognized international sales companies, who will provide feedback on the quality and marketability of the projects presented, and select the winning project. The winner will be announced at the WFF’s networking reception, and will be awarded the opportunity to meet privately with the three industry experts to receive invaluable feedback and advice on their project as well as forge formidable relationships within the industry.
