The Arts Branch works to develop Manitoba’s arts community and cultural industries in order to enhance the creativity and well-being of Manitobans and accelerate the arts’ contribution to the economic viability and global profile of the province. The Francophone Arts Community Consultant will provide ongoing consultation, advice, analysis, and support to the arts industry in Manitoba and manage a variety of funding programs related to the publishing industry, as well as other arts-related organizations.

Salary(s):  RR3 $59,406.00 – $71,586.00 per year

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be fluent in French, both in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to travel throughout the province as required, and may include overnight stays
  • Must be able and willing to work outside of regular business hours on occasion
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5F driver’s license

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience in a leadership role in the Francophone arts sector
  • Knowledge of issues and trends impacting the Francophone arts community
  • Strong understanding of the arts industry and the current challenges facing professional and community level not-for-profit arts organizations
  • Experience with the arts and/or creative industries funding environment at the municipal, federal and/or Provincial level
  • Experience working with organizational budgets, audited statements and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of best practices in not-for-profit governance and operations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent written skills in English with experience producing a variety of correspondence to support senior level decision making
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships internal to government and across the arts community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Desired

  • Experience in grants administration including program management, delivery, accountability, and evaluation

Duties:
Reporting to the Director, this bilingual position delivers all aspects of the Branch’s Francophone Arts and Community Arts programs and provides consultation services to the Province’s Francophone Arts community. Duties related to program delivery include undertaking funding analysis, evaluating grant applications, and making funding recommendations. This position also establishes and maintains effective and positive lines of communication between the Department and the Francophone community and other clients through regularly scheduled on-site service delivery at rue Des Meurons Bilingual Service Centre. This position also prepares Ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, speaking notes, and submissions with respect to clients of the Arts Branch and other issues arising in the arts community.
