CraftED: Spinning Yarn the Andean Way with Francesca Carella Arfinengo
March 1 - March 15$150
Spinning yarn the Andean Way is a three-session workshop focusing on transmitting yarn production techniques based in the Andean tradition.
In the three sessions, participants will learn how to prepare fleece using just their hands and spin beautiful yarn with a pushka. They will also learn how to ply their singles using the Andean bracelet method.
All workshop activities have been designed to be approachable and intended to guide participants in the discovery of the subject at their own speed. Since minimal equipment and preparation is required to make yarn in this way, practicing this craft is possible and easy to incorporate in modern busy lifestyles.
Workshop participants should be over the age of six.
A portion of your workshop fee will be donated to the CTTC (https://www.textilescusco.org/) who works to preserve ancient textile techniques in the Andean regions of Peru.
