These workshops are designed to offer insight for producers, production managers, production co-ordinators, assistant directors and line producers into what it takes to be a Creative Producer, but also, and importantly, it is designed to allow directors, writers, editors, actors and other key creatives insight into how to work effectively with a Creative Producer.

Creative Producing I – from Script to Screen and Beyond is a screening-and-lecture-based Master Class. It will be comprised of an introduction by Klymkiw, a screening of THE LAST SUPPER and followed by a detailed analysis of what it took to target a creative property, develop the property, package the property creatively, prep and shoot the property, creatively oversee the post-production and market/distribute the property. Total length of screening/workshop: 3 Hours.

THE LAST SUPPER (1995, 96 mins, Canada) is an independent work Directed/co-written by Cynthia Roberts and Produced/Co-written by Greg Klymkiw. It has not screened theatrically in Winnipeg for over 20 years and this will be a rare opportunity to see and gain insight into what has become one of the most acclaimed Canadian feature films ever made. It was the Winner of the coveted Best Feature Film Teddy Bear Award at the Berlinale (the Berlin International Film Festival), a Critics Week Selection at the Locarno International Film Festival, invited to over 200 international film festivals, theatrically released in UK, France, Germany and the USA to substantial boxoffice and enthusiastic critical acclaim and repeatedly broadcast on venues such as TVO, ZDF and Arte.

“An unflinching portrait of a man’s final hours… a simple but devastating study of the human condition in extremis: grit your teeth and go see.” – Time Out London

“A powerful addition to the growing body of art devoted to AIDS… transgresses the terrain between documentary and drama… tremendously moving.” – Marc Glassman, Take One

Synopsis of THE LAST SUPPER: A dancer (Ken McDougall) dying of AIDS is tended to by his longtime companion (J.D. Nicholsen). He choreographs the last ninety minutes of his life before choosing to have euthanasia performed by a compassionate doctor (Daniel MacIvor) to end his suffering. Director Cynthia Roberts and producer/co-screenwriter Greg Klymkiw shot this harrowing drama at the Casey House AIDS Hospice in Toronto.  The drama is presented in real time.
