Experimental Documentary: Master Class with Danielle Sturk
November 24 at11:00 am - 2:00 pm$50 – $75
Find out how and why award-winning filmmaker Danielle Sturk “basically blows up documentary conventions in ways both whimsically weird and seriously avant-garde”(Alison Gillmore, Winnipeg Free Press) with mixed-media forms (animation, live-action, illustration, miniature models, etc) used in El Toro and her other films.
This three-hour master class will start with a screening of Danielle Sturk’s unique and multifaceted documentary, El Toro. A lecture and discussion with Danielle about the award winning film and Danielle’s practice will follow. Participants will learn about various experimental approaches and techniques to documentary story telling. A break out session will give the opportunity for participants to discuss their own documentary ideas with Danielle.
