Glitter & fall: A GALA Poetry and Music Recital

The event celebrates the multimedia collaborative elements of Di Brandt’s prestigious poetry career, and represents her final performance event as Winnipeg’s inaugural Poet Laureate (2018-2019).

Performances of Di Brandt’s poetry and translations in new musical works by contemporary Canadian composers David Lidov, Kenneth Nichols and Jana Skarecky.

Featuring renowned singers Tracy Dahl, Rosemarie Van Der Hooft and Lizzy Hoyt, with Richard Turner (harp),  Micah Heilbrunn (clarinet), Laura Loewen (piano), Megan Dufrat (piano), and the Desaultels Chorale conducted by Mel Braun.

The evening includes the launch of Prairie Fire Magazine‘s Fall issue, with new poetry by Di Brandt, and an essay on “Winnipeg’s Brilliant Poetic Heritage,” as well as a brief memorial tribute to long-time editor Andris Taskans, sadly missed.
