Hockey: The Stories Behind Our Passion
July 6, 2018 - January 13, 2019
The puck drops on Hockey: The Stories Behind Our Passion at the Manitoba Museum on July 6, 2018. This exhibition, developed by the Canadian Museum of History and where it premiered, March 10 to October 9, 2017, details the evolution of the sport through historic highlight reels, interactive components and one-of-a-kind artifacts. Visitors will find themselves in the places where Canadians live and breathe hockey: from dressing room to press-box, rink to corporate boardroom, players’ bench to backyard game. They will come to understand why hockey holds such a significant place in the hearts of Canadians.
“Hockey: The Stories Behind Our Passion tells the story of the game’s roots and its central role in Canadian communities and popular culture,” says Claudette Leclerc, Executive Director and CEO of the Manitoba Museum. “This exhibition will appeal to visitors from all walks of life – from the hockey fanatic, to the families who live the game, to the person who simply wants to know how this sport came to embody the Canadian spirit – there is something in the show for everyone!”
The exhibition runs from July 6, 2018 to January 13, 2019 in Alloway Hall.
