Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment is located in the William Glesby Centre at 11-2nd Street NE in Portage la Prairie.
Naomi Gerrard is a Winnipeg artist who incorporates prairie grains into her artwork, celebrating the importance of agriculture. A mixed media collage artist she uses canola, flax, wheat, oats, buckwheat, sunflower seeds, rye, alfalfa, clover, mustard seeds and many more. She is inspired by the potential surging life of the individual grains planted annually in our prairies. Each individual grain has its own inherent personality, range of colours, shape and beauty. These grains collectively change the vast landscape of our prairies annually from the planting season to the harvest season. They spread energy, hope and beauty as they develop into nourishing food for us all. In this exhibit, she has created approximately 50 unique artworks that include a variety of grains.
“Art is a search for the visual voice, the light, the spirit, the sounds or the aromas, the tensions of the moment. I search for a way to make a social statement, a way to challenge the viewer through my art,” states Gerrard.
