Nalbinding Workshop with Cathy Dyck and Jessica Bernert
Learn the basics of single needle nalbinding! Nalbinding is an ancient fibre craft used to create warm wool garments for cold weather wear. Nalbound socks and mitts carbon dated to the early 700s have been found in archaeological sites in Scandinavia. In this workshop you will learn how to begin, increase, decrease, and end creating an environmentally friendly ball for play, decoration, or whatever!

Cathy Dyck has been an avid Viking-age enthusiast since 2012 and has developed a love of the ancient fibre craft, Naalbinding. Cathy makes authentic socks, mitts, hats and other gear for friends and the Sons of Lugh Viking reenactors.
Jessica Bernert is a string fanatic and has yet to find a fibre-craft that does not call to her. In addition to using naalbinding to create historical Viking garments, Jessica incorporates naalbound toes & heals into knit socks taking advantage of the non-ravelling nature of naalbinding.
