Scott Leroux Fund: Chukwudubem Ukaigwe
December 1 - December 31Free
As the 2020 recipient of the Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration, Chukwudubem Ukaigwe is in residence for November – December at Video Pool Media Arts Centre, creating a multi-channel audio/video work in Poolside Gallery. Chukwudubem on some of the objectives of his research and development:
“The filmmaker is going to continue to explore + visual-to-auditory + associations and vice versa; by means of merging, tearing apart, isolation, probability, dialogue, echo, media overlap, and interpolation. This media exploration residency will be an opportunity for the Nigerian artist to further research the sonic implications of space – How architecture, materiality, and positioning influence sound, and how these factors could alter or shape visual perceptions of entrapped light (video, photographs).”
Video Pool Media Arts Centre remains closed due to Covid restrictions, however, if no in-person access is possible before the end of this residency we will show the work-in-progress in other ways, stay tuned.
The Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration commemorates the creative life of beloved artist Scott Leroux. Scott took a unique and self-forged approach to his multifaceted works, often bringing a wide variety of artists together under boldly singular media-based projects. A new date to submit applications to the 2021 iteration of the fund will be announced in the coming weeks.
