Yes, Tom Allen is bringing his show to Winnipeg, and WMC is delighted to present Tom and Friends in a performance of J.S. Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow.
CBC listeners are familiar with Tom Allen as the host of About Time, aired weekday afternoons on Radio Two. Since 2010, in collaboration with his life partner Lori Gemmell (harpist), Allen has been creating “chamber musicals” that blend storytelling, history, and music.
You don’t need to be a classical music lover or a Bach expert to enjoy this theatrical look at the story of this pilgrimage. It’s for all ages, and kids love it!
J.S. Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow has been performed from B.C. to Newfoundland, and wherever Tom and Lori perform, they incorporate prominent local musicians. The Winnipeg ensemble will feature singer Catherine Wreford, Karl Stobbe on violin, and Madeline Hildebrand on piano. What a party!
