Emerging filmmakers have until June 15 at 12PM CST to submit their short film concepts for a chance to pitch live during this year’s Gimli International Film Festival.
Presented by RBC, in partnership with Film Training Manitoba and hosted by GIFF, the competition provides a $15,000 production grant alongside mentorship, training, equipment access, studio support, administrative assistance, and industry connections designed to help filmmakers bring their first short film to life.
Finalists will pitch their projects before an industry jury and public audience, with the winning filmmaker receiving support from partners across Manitoba’s screen industry. This year’s competition will take place on Saturday, July 25, starting at 10AM CST.
Last year’s winner, Ande Brown, returns to GIFF this summer with the world premiere of Half-Naked, the project he successfully pitched through the competition in 2025.
