Mission
Your mission as Artistic and Administrative Director is to work collaboratively with the Board Executive, committees and volunteers to implement the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg’s artistic, educational and organizational priorities. You are a highly organized arts administrator who enjoys helping a volunteer organization function better.
– Term: 20 hours per week, 12-month contract with possibility of renewal
– Reporting To: Board Executive
– Work Location: Remote, Winnipeg-based
– Hours: Daytime work with evening and weekend concerts and events
Duties & Responsibilities
Organizational Support
– Coordinate board and committee meetings, including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing agendas, reports and minutes.
– Track board meeting decisions, action items and deadlines.
– Provide administrative and additional support to committee chairs and volunteers.
– Coordinate activities across committees to ensure that plans, decisions and deadlines are communicated and implemented effectively and on-time.
Artistic Programming & Artist Relations
– Work with the Recitals Committee to develop and implement the four- or five-concert Centre Stage season.
– Negotiate contracts with artists and venues and coordinate artists’ accommodation, transportation, hospitality and rehearsal requirements with the Recitals and House/Hospitality Committees.
Concert & Event Production
– Work with committees to plan and coordinate concerts, scholarship competitions and fundraising events.
– Coordinate front-of-house functions and event production with volunteers.
Finance & Funding
– Work with the Treasurer to develop the annual budget and monitor financial activity throughout the year.
– Identify grant opportunities in consultation with the Executive and prepare and submit grant applications. Ensure that funding-agency requirements are met.
– Support fundraising and sponsorship initiatives from individuals and the corporate sector in accordance with priorities established by the Fundraising committee.
Marketing, Communications & Public Engagement
– Develop annual marketing and communications plan in consultation with the Executive and Publicity Committee.
– Coordinate the design, production and distribution of newsletters, posters, brochures and other promotional materials
– Maintain and update the WMC website and social media platforms
– Coordinate promotional activities for concerts, events and other initiatives.
– Represent WMC publicly and foster regular and timely communication with the Board, Honorary Members, volunteers, stakeholders and the general public.
Education, Skills & Characteristics
The ideal candidate has the following education and characteristics:
– Post-secondary education in arts administration, music, business administration, communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

– Highly organized and dependable
– Proactive; sees what needs doing and does it
– Diplomatic and emotionally intelligent

The Women’s Musical Club, formed in 1894, is the oldest continuously operating musical organization in Winnipeg.
