Community Guidelines for Creative Manitoba's Creative Hub

Creative Manitoba strengthens, represents and connects Manitoba’s arts and creative industries. The Creative Hub (you’re in it right now!) is a one-stop shop for arts organizations and artists that helps them solve real-world problems. A place where you can post your next event, job listing, call for submissions or volunteers. Search for possible hires or workshop facilitators. Connect with other organizations in your discipline or region. Best of all it’s free! Artists and arts organizations can have profiles on our Arts Directory and post events and opportunities on our website at no cost.

OUR ONLINE CULTURE

Creative Manitoba’s culture is one of community and belonging. We are committed to equity and co-creation, and we will work to be a catalyst for artists and arts organizations to gather and build meaningful connections. We are committed to creating adaptive and responsive programs that support the creative community, helping them to thrive in abundance while finding joy in life.

We want the Creative Hub to be an active community for organizations and people from all creative disciplines in Manitoba, including you! Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age to post an artist or organizational profile and all profiles must be approved by Creative Manitoba staff before appearing on the website.

Personal attacks, harassment, doxxing, discrimination of any type, and other malicious behaviour will not be tolerated.

ARTS DIRECTORY VALUES & GUIDELINES

AUTHENTICITY & ORIGINALITY

We want to see the best of what you and/or your organization have to offer!

Take care to consider your bio and social media links, pick up to six of your best photos, link to your music or videos that are available to watch on streaming services. Feel free to experiment, you may need to change your profile as you grow as an artist or organization and that is totally okay!

Post anything that you feel best represents your artistic practice! But do be mindful to post only content that is your own intellectual property. Uploading other people’s work as your own is copyright infringement and is not tolerated. If you aren’t sure whether your use of someone else’s content or trademark in your work is legal, you can talk to an attorney or consider consulting the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts for help.

RESPECTFULNESS

Creative Manitoba endeavours to keep the Arts Directory a safe and inclusive space for artists and organizations to show off their work and find opportunities to collaborate and share. We ask that all users be respectful and do not post anything from the following list:

Profiles found to contain any of the above content will be removed immediately. If you see any profile that appears to be violating these rules, please hit the ‘Report’ button on the profile and we will investigate as soon as possible.

TIMELINESS & ACCURACY

Keep your profile up to date! If you have recently changed your social media profiles, or artistic area of focus, make sure to update your profile! You may change any aspect of your profile at any time with the exception of your user account name (which is not visible to others). Try to make sure your contact information (even the invisible parts) is accurate so that we can reach you if necessary and so that you have continuous access to your profile.

POSTING JOBS & OPPORTUNITIES

Our Opportunities section of the site is a place where creatives and organizations can search for and post jobs, calls for submissions, and volunteer opportunities.

Any post that violates the above rules will be removed. If you are confused about these guidelines or have questions, please feel free to email communications@creativemanitoba.ca

POSTING COMMUNITY EVENTS

You may also post Community Events to invite the public to join your creative event. When posting an event, please take care to post it at least 10 days before the event takes place, that way more people will see it! All events will be reviewed and approved by Creative Manitoba staff before showing up on the website.

A great event post will contain:

  • An inviting, appropriately-sized banner image (1280 x 600 pixels is best)
  • A title
  • A date
  • A location & Manitoba Region (selecting a region means your event will appear on more pages of the site)
  • Selected Event Categories and relevant Artistic Disciplines (selecting these will allow the event to appear on all relevant pages of the site)
  • A link to the event or ticketing website
  • An exciting description of your wonderful event!

You may not post:

  • Profane language or content
  • Sexual content or links to sexual content
  • Content that promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination on any basis
  • Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
  • Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public
  • Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party

Community Events on the Creative Hub are provided as a service to users of our website and citizens of Manitoba. Though the calendar is moderated for posting acceptable events, Creative Manitoba does not endorse or verify the information included. Creative Manitoba reserves the right to decline event/activity submissions, and to edit information for length, spelling, language and clarity. We urge everyone submitting calendar events to review details for accuracy.

We welcome postings from all users, members and non-members alike, however if you hope to receive additional promotion in our newsletter or social media, please consider becoming a member!
