Become a Theatre Projects Manitoba Board Member!

TPM is currently seeking passionate, self-motivated members with experience in finance, board governance, and marketing; but we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply. Ultimately, we are looking for prospective members who bring a unique set of skills, experiences, and perspectives to the board.

Assets of a TPM board director include:

  • A devotion to TPM’s vision and mandate;
  • A passion for theatre and performing arts advocacy in Manitoba;
  • An eagerness to participate, share your ideas, and have your voice heard;
  • A background in leadership and/or the ability to work collaboratively;
  • An ability to connect and engage with stakeholders;
  • An interest in joining board committees to support informed decision making;
  • A desire to support TPM by attending and volunteering at shows and events throughout the season.

Theatre Projects Manitoba is a not-for-profit, charitable professional theatre company with an indie heart based in Winnipeg. We are artistically ambitious, joyfully creative, and fiercely community focused. We develop, produce, and present intimate, provocative, and artistically driven theatre projects of local origin or local relevance that offer Manitobans opportunities to experience high-quality professional theatre.

Our mandate is as follows:

  • To operate as a non-profit company, in the production and public presentation of theatre and drama in the Province of Manitoba.
  • To serve the citizens of the Province of Manitoba by providing them and their communities with opportunities to experience and engage in professional theatre.
  • To promote public interest in the performance and appreciation of live theatre, seeking out partnerships when possible to this end.
  • To engage with theatres and organizations on a national level and participate in the growth and health of the Canadian Theatre industry.
  • To develop and promote the skills of Manitoba writers, directors, actors, designers, technicians and craftspeople by presenting theatrical works of local origin or local relevance.

With a view to implement the established mission, vision, and purpose of TPM, every board member shall:

  1. Attend and participate in Board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and committee meetings on which the Board member serves;
  2. Come prepared for meetings by reviewing all materials circulated in advance;
  3. Review all audited financial reports including annual budget and quarterly reports, and raise any questions arising from this review at the next Board meeting;
  4. Actively participate in the discussions and deliberations of the Board;
  5. Keep Board discussions and materials confidential;
  6. Be vigilant for, and disclose any real or perceived conflict of interest in any matter considered by the Board;
  7. Be member in good standing of TPM supporting and attending its productions and events;
  8. Participate in any scheduled review of TPM’s mission and in the development of its strategic plan;
  9. Work to enhance the public image of TPM and play an active role in fundraising and development by cultivating prospective donors or sponsors, by donating goods or monies, or by participating in fundraising events;
  10. Foster a positive and collaborative working relationship with other Board members, the Artistic Director, the Managing Director, and staff;
  11. Lead succession planning by identifying suitable candidates for future Board members.
