Allison Thiessen (@himynameisallison)

• Hi! My name is Allison, and I am a professional tattooer working at Albert Street Tattoo — but I’m also a multi-disciplinary artist, illustrator and visual storyteller. My work is known for its high level of detail and vibrant use of colour, ranging from serious science-based illustration, colourful nature pieces, queer or neurodivergent affirmations to silly pop-culture and video game tattoos. Picking one focus has never been easy for me — I am always learning new skill and mediums, both traditionally and digitally.

  I have education from RRC’s graphic design and adv. graphic design program, which built a strong foundation for running my tattoo career. Outside of tattooing, I am particularly interested in getting into mural work, augmented and virtual reality experiences, science and art exhibits, and set design (for example, designing a stage for a rave would be incredible, as I am an avid raver)

  I am a fantastic communicator, which is a necessary requirement to build some of the high-level concepts I enjoy working on, tattooing or otherwise. My strengths lie in translating complex information into striking visual concepts and experiences. I am always looking to push my brain to create with new mediums or types of art.

Anja Studer

• Anja Studer was born and raised in Switzerland and became an environmental activist at a very young age, feeling a deep need to protect the world we live in. She studied fine arts at the École de design et haute école d’art du Valais and the University of Manitoba and graduated from Red River College with a diploma in photography. Anja continues to create, exhibit, and sell her art in Europe and North America.

  Anja creates works in a variety of mediums, often with a focus on the impact of environmental challenges facing wildlife.  Her mixed media paintings – featuring beautiful, abstract watercolour washes enriched with details in ink, acrylic, 18k gold and graphite – loosely evoke the landscape.  Her papercuts are inspired by the traditional Swiss artform.  This delicate medium utilizes the concept of patterns unravelling into lines to echo the message of wildlife extinction.

Rhael Mcgregor

• Rhael McGregor is an award winning Métis, 2Spirit/Queer, Winnipeg-based cartoonist and animator. Their published works include Mortified, Touching Grass, Little by Little, and The Unbeatable Sonya Ballantyne. Rhael is also the writer and director of 'Dracudate', an award winning short film with around 2M views on youtube as of 2025. Rhael's work ranges from sweet stories of witches falling in love to more serious autobio comics about learning love while surrounded by abuse or grappling with Métis identity politics.

  No matter what they create, Rhael always hopes their work spreads joy and representation, inspires connection, and brings a bit more light into the world.
