Printmaking

Raised for the most part in Quebec, Jan Jenkins worked in Alberta’s energy industry until she moved to Manitoba where she now creates original art for smaller spaces and wearable art for that unique look.  Her work is influenced by the meditative art form of zendoodling along with intricate repeating patterns found in textiles, decorative tiling and nature.  Most memorable for Jan are having two of her designs selected by the town of Russell, MB to adorn their decorative main street steel arches, having her artworks included in Manitoba Art Network’s Art Reaches Manitoba touring exhibition program, and participating in a Manitoba Arts Network digital collaboration videography project with musician Raine Hamilton.  She is a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists, The Drawn Together Collective, the Art Gallery of Soutwestern Manitoba, Wasagaming Community Arts and Arts West Council.  For more information about Jan and her art please visit www.janjenkins.art

I am  a multidisciplinary visual artist, educator and visual arts advocate. I live at Schist Lake in Northern Manitoba. I work out of a studio there and at the Northern Visual Arts Centre (NorVA) in Flin Flon, MB.

Artist Statement Karen Clark

I am thrilled by the idea that people making and appreciating art works share so much with one another. This sharing is important to inspire conversations that are necessary in Canada today.

I paint the landscape here in the Boreal forest from the vantage point of my kayak or canoe. The terrain here is edgy and sharp. This is my cup of tea.

In June 29th 2026 I opened a show at the NorVA Centre in Flin Flon. The show of 31 oil paintings is focused on the local mine processing site nestled next to us here in Flin Flon. It is a remarkable juxtaposition, over 600 hectares devoted to extraction, crushing , smelting, prepping ore and managing waste products from those mining processes. The working title, The Long GoodBye: The Company, refers to the boom and bust cycle common to mine based towns throughout the world.  The show is exhibits until July 28 with an Artist Talk on July 21 2026.

Acknowledgement

My generation has seen the deconstruction of Canada’s colonial past. I follow the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the investigation of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls with a growing sense of horror and shame. Having my roots as a settler in this land, I have a shared sense of confusion and perplexity as to how we - settlers and Indigenous people - carry on together. As a result I find myself questioning my place in this landscape which is so fundamental to my sense of self.

Gillian Crawford is a self-described creative and grief walker of Métis and settler ancestry, living on Treaty One Territory. She is the creator of The Connection Desk, a small participatory public art installation in Winnipeg’s North End that explores grief and invites meaningful engagement.

Her eclectic and ever-evolving practice spans multiple mediums including poetry, photography, and installation. Her work is deeply rooted in the landscapes of home, exploring identity and uncovering the sacred in everyday life. Since the death of her father in 2024, Crawford has been transmuting a grief larger than her physical form into art, connection, and community—meeting herself anew along the way and discovering what each evolving self has to offer the world.

Chris Foster is a Canadian artist who turns memories, places, and fleeting moments into layered, playful paintings. From her SheShed at Lake of the Woods to streets and sunsets around the world, she blends bold color, delicate line work, and storytelling to create work that makes you linger, smile, and maybe even recognize a piece of yourself.

Her landscapes, cityscapes, and florals begin with real locations, but she does not chasing strict realism. She's drawn to light, atmosphere, and the way a place lives in your memory after you’ve gone.
