Sculpture

I am a muralist and an arts educator/facilitator residing in the Eastman region of Manitoba.  I am passionate about making art that inspires and engages the public, and that visually enhances public spaces.  I administers group mural projects within communities that speak of my strong commitment to making art accessible as a tool for self-expression and healing. My work through the Artists in the Schools program brings me from school to school throughout Manitoba, working with students throughout the research, design and creation of murals to beautify their schools. Mosaic is another art-form I enjoy and have been incorporating into my artwork and community Projects.  I have facilitated several community and school mosaic projects that are both beautiful and functional. Using largely discarded materials, these mixed media mosaics bring communities together in the collaborative creation of tactile art for their schools and communities.

Anja Studer was born and raised in Switzerland and became an environmental activist at a very young age, feeling a deep need to protect the world we live in. She studied fine arts at the École de design et haute école d’art du Valais and the University of Manitoba and graduated from Red River College with a diploma in photography. Anja continues to create, exhibit, and sell her art in Europe and North America.

Anja creates works in a variety of mediums, often with a focus on the impact of environmental challenges facing wildlife.  Her mixed media paintings – featuring beautiful, abstract watercolour washes enriched with details in ink, acrylic, 18k gold and graphite – loosely evoke the landscape.  Her papercuts are inspired by the traditional Swiss artform.  This delicate medium utilizes the concept of patterns unravelling into lines to echo the message of wildlife extinction.

born and raised in Saskatchewan and moved to Manitoba in 2013. She is an avid artist and enjoys art in any form. From sewing, knitting, crocheting, and beadwork, there is very little in the form of arts she does not do. Northern Manitoba has expanded her love for the arts with all its beauty, and although she misses the prairies, she wouldn’t trade the northern lights for the world. She is the Northern Champion for Flin Flon and the area and is happy to have the opportunity to share art throughout the north.
