Participants in this workshop will learn peyote stitch bead-weaving using size 11/0 and 10/0 round rocaille beads to create a pair of 3D Beaded Earrings.
Instructed by the artist Shanelle St. Hilaire, participants will look at beadwork examples, choose bead colours, and bead a pair of three-dimensional leaf earrings complete with hardware. The workshop will run over the course of 3-4 hours to create a finished pair of beaded earrings.
All materials are provided and included in the cost of the workshop. Participants will have multiple bead colour options to choose from.
About the Artist:
Shanelle St. Hilaire is a multi-disciplinary artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba (Treaty One Territory), and a member of the Red River Métis community. Specializing in installation, beadwork, sound, and recently exploring performance and video. St. Hilaire’s practice is rooted in research and process, with a focus on materiality and technique.
She earned her honours BFA from The School of Art at the University of Manitoba in 2023. St. Hilaire is an active board member of CARFAC Manitoba, a member of the Nocturne Collective, and Fevered Impulse.
