Chosen by our Columbia (USA) Chapter, the global theme of CURRENT invites invites reflection on where we are now and where we’re headed — socially, creatively, environmentally, and personally. It’s a theme that offers room for depth, urgency, movement, and connection.”
Our featured speaker to explore the theme of CURRENT is Garrett Fache of Wild Loon Adventures Inc. His talk is titled: “Creating Current.”
Garrett has been in and around water for almost his entire life, but in the last 4 years taken the leap into full on eco-tourism. Original Original accredited eco-tourism operator, Wild Loon Adventure Company is built around the mentality of getting folks outside and showcasing the wonderful province we all call home. Wild Loon has deep pillars in Indigenous Conservation methods, increasing diversity in paddling through course options like Fems & Thems, and working to keep pricing as accessible as possible without sacrificing comfort.
Garrett is a Metis business owner with maternal relations to Ste. Madeline, the community without a town. He started Wild Loon with a dual focus on paddlesport education and remote river expeditions. When not guiding canoe trips, running paddling courses, or simply repairing gear, Garrett is a wildlife photography & astrophotography guide in Churchill, Manitoba for Natural Habitat Adventures, runs Wild House Media, and does the occasional cocktail pop-up with Dinner Jacket Bartending.
