Making Conversation brings together four artists who are in deep conversation with matter and material.  These artists are all closely connected to their craft, maintaining a posture of curiosity towards their respective materials, exploring new ways of making, and pushing the confines and traditions of their medium: crossing boundaries between media, finding unconventional uses for otherwise overlooked materials, employing and subverting a material’s inherent properties, and allowing the process of making to inform and conceptualize the work being made. This process serves as evidence of the dialogue that has occurred between the artist and their medium, a visual transcript that gives the viewer permission to eavesdrop on what was surely a scintillating exchange.” -Chelsey Thiessen, In an excerpt from her curatorial essay
