Led by Brazilian guitarist Emmanuel Bach, this trio brings together the sophistication of modern jazz with the rhythmic richness of Brazilian music. Emmanuel, originally from Brazil and now a key figure in the Winnipeg jazz scene, holds a master’s degree from the University of Manitoba, and currently teaches jazz guitar students and ensembles there. He has released three albums as a leader and performed with legends like Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, and Ivan Lins. 

Each Saturday night performance features an opening set by the trio, with two of Canada’s most in-demand musicians: Fabio Ragnelli (drums) and Karl Kohut (bass), followed by a set with a different special guest each week. And if a familiar face from the local music community happens to be in the house, don’t be surprised if Emmanuel waves them up for a tune!
