Reel Brews: Speaker Series
Featuring Guest: Laina Brown
Reel Brews is a speaker and networking series presented by the OurToba Film Network, designed to foster direct engagement between Manitoba film professionals and industry leaders in an informal, welcoming setting.
This session features Laina Brown, a Winnipeg-based Director of Photography and Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. Laina is Head of Cinematography and co-owner of Folks Films, with extensive experience across television, documentary, and unscripted series. Her recent work includes the CBC web series Les faillites d’Astrid, seasons 1 and 2 of Big Small Town (Bell Fibe TV1), Ghost Kitchens, multiple comedy specials for Counterfeit Comedy, and the upcoming feature documentary The Art of Social Architecture (2026). She has also collaborated with artists and organizations including The Fretless, Boy Golden, Manitoba Opera, Polycoro, Begonia, and numerous Canadian comedians.
Reel Brews discussions are participant-led, creating space for meaningful conversation, peer learning, and insight into navigating the film sector. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and engage directly with the guest speaker.
