This workshop is for anyone who would like to learn how to set yourself up for success while working as a Swing or Understudy within regional theatre. From prep, to the rehearsal process, to put ins, to swing ons, let’s demystify the process and learn what to expect when hired as a cover.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sam is a Winnipeg-based performer, with on stage credits including Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz (Rainbow); The Perfect Man (Gargoyle); A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Grindstone); The Prom (Dry Cold); Reefer Madness (WST). Sam also works behind the scenes as a Choreographer and Intimacy Director, on productions including Dogfight (Dry Cold – Choreographer); Waitress (RMTC – Intimacy Director); and The Sound of Music (RMTC – Apprentice Director/Choreographer & Intimacy Director). Beyond the theatre, Sam works in the film industry as a Stunt Performer and Intimacy Director, and is a theatre and dance educator, who has taught at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, U of M, U of W, Drop in Dance, and within Rainbow Stage’s Education programming. Sam is a sought after theatre professional known for her versatility, reliability, and diverse skillset, which has translated into her experiences as a swing, understudy, and dance captain.
