In this Public Sharing, Waawaate Fobister will share Miskwiin, a work developed during their 2025–2026 Young Lungs Dance Exchange Artist Residency.
Miskwiin explores how Anishinaabe knowledge moves through time and lives in the body across generations. Through breath, dance, prayer, and improvisation, the work traces blood memory — the feeling of something old awakening within the body — and how movement becomes a way of listening to ancestral teachings rather than imposing fixed forms.
Guided by Two-Spirit energy, Miskwiin moves between past and future, softness and sharpness, masculinity and femininity, inviting audiences into a shared experience of memory, presence, and transformation.
Following the presentation of their work, there will be a short Q&A with the artists, facilitated by Aria Evans.
