About us

Built in 1895, the Dalnavert Museum is an ornate Victorian mansion nestled in the heart of Winnipeg run by the non-profit, Friends of Dalnavert Museum (FDM). This unique museum features a “day in the life” feel, transporting visitors back to the 19th century the second they step inside. Dalnavert Museum and Visitors' Centre has been a national historic site since 1990 and one of the finest examples of Queen Anne Revival architecture in Western Canada. Today the museum fosters engagement with history, arts and culture, and much more.

The Friends of Dalnavert Museum are committed to:

  • Preserving and maintaining the museum's buildings, grounds, and collection
  • Presenting engaging programs and exhibits that interpret the history of the house, and Winnipeg's heritage for visitors
  • Developing partnerships and programming that will make Dalnavert a cultural centre for city residents

As part of our mission to develop partnerships and programming that will make Dalnavert Museum a cultural centre for city residents, we often collaborate with local artists, makers, performers, writers, and various other creatives. We’re always keen to hear what you’re up to and how you’re interested in working with us. Visit our website to learn more about getting involved.
