The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is a dynamic force serving Manitobans with excellent musical opportunities and experiences. The WSO produces more than 60 events and concerts per year. The WSO actively engaged in program development, education and outreach, major concert series, and the Winnipeg new Music Festival with the objective of delivering artistically excellent symphonic music. The WSO operates with a staff of approximately 60 musician and 24 full-time and part-time administrative and production personnel. Itis a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors.
Position:
Reporting to the Box Office Manager, the Patron Services Representative is responsible for handling day-to-day functions in the Box Office. Patron Services Representatives are WSO’s direct contact to our audience and are responsible for maximizing ticket sales through superior and efficient patron service.
Job Description:
1. Facilitates the sale of WSO tickets, both subscription and casual.
2. Responds to all customer inquiries about any matter concerning WSO subscription and casual tickets such as prices and discounts, seating availability, subscriber privileges, and status of an individual’s order.
3. Handles window sales for performances, specifically, opening the Box Office one hour prior to concert time, selling tickets as long as past curtain time as demand, processing subscriber exchanges prior to and during intermission, and balancing the evening’s receipts against the computer reconciliation report.
4. Handles window and phone sales for Centennial Concert Hall touring productions. This includes selling tickets on the Audience View database, knowledge of events at the venue, and troubleshooting online order issues as required.
5. Processes all WSO ticket orders coming in by mail, telephone and over the counter in the Tessitura database and assists patrons with online order issues as required.
6. Prepares accounting reports and maintains the various WSO database.
7. Handles and documents all irregular transactions of WSO tickets such as subscriber exchanges, coupons sales, etc.
8. Other duties as may be assigned by the Box Office Manager.
Qualifications:
1. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, great problem-solving creativity, and genuine love and enthusiasm for symphonic music.
2. Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills.
3. Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with database management, preferably Tessitura, is considered an asset.
Position Information:
This position requires work on occasional evenings and weekends.
