Position Title: Programs and Performers Services Assistant (PPSA)
Location: Winnipeg, MB – in office
Term: March 2 – July 31, 2026 – 35 hours/week *
*February – Part-Time Hours (1/day week)
With one of North America’s premier outdoor music festivals as its signature event, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is a year-round, not-for-profit arts organization that presents live music, arts events designed to benefit the community.
The Winnipeg Folk Festival is seeking a detail-oriented team member to support the administrative needs of the festival’s Artistic Department. This role plays a key part in delivering a world-class experience for program participants, artists and the community in addition to facilitating key programs including the Young Performers Program.
Reporting to the Artistic Coordinator, the PPSA is responsible for:
Program Coordination & Administration Support:
– Deliver the Young Performers Program, including application and information management, program logistics (venue, food and beverage, supplies and equipment), and participant correspondence.
– Provide administrative support and organization for artistic programs such as the Wandering Minstrels, Family Area animators, and community group partnerships.
– Support performer transportation logistics and set-up of city/airport permits.
– Prepare and update materials such as website content, program books, handbooks, and online applications.
– Assist with performer logistics during the festival, including credential packages, check-in and itineraries
Volunteer & Crew Support:
– Provide administrative support to all Artistic Department volunteer crews, including Family Area, Transportation, and Artist Check-In teams.
Special Projects & Events:
– Assist with special events and artist merchandise sale preparations as required.
– Provide on-site support throughout the festival period.
– Compile a final report summarizing outcomes and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
– Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
– Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional demeanour, and strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently while managing competing priorities.
– Attention to detail, essential for administrative and logistical tasks.
– Experience in the administration and program/event planning.
– Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
– Valid driver’s license.
Assets
– Experience working with youth or delivering education programs
– Knowledge of basic graphic design, document layout
– Familiarity with the Winnipeg Folk Festival
– Access to a personal vehicle
Work Schedule
The hours of work generally fall between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday, a 35-hour week with an unpaid lunch. There is a need for schedule flexibility related to evening and weekend events, training sessions and meetings with volunteers. During the festival, the selected candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
Compensation
$20–$25 per hour, commensurate with experience, + 4% vacation pay.
