Youth Recreation Leaders

Graffiti Art Programming is hiring Youth Recreation Leaders for our st.ART and Studio 393 programs. This is a term position that will run from June 22 through August 30, 2026. Youth Recreation Leaders will be responsible for supporting GAP programming for children and youth, including workshops, youth art exhibitions, and community outreach, as well as basic data tracking and entry, and cleaning. This position reports directly to the st.ART Coordinator and Studio 393 Coordinator.

Graffiti Art Programming Inc. (GAP) is a not-for-profit organization that provides free art programming and mentorship to youth in Winnipeg’s Downtown and North End neighbourhoods.

Employment Terms:

Type: Term

Rate of Pay: $16.00 per hour

Hours: Expected 15 hours per week, day and evenings, some weekends required.

Duration: June 22 – August 30, 2026

Role Description: 

– Support drop-in programs for children ages 6-12 at st.ART North End sites, and youth aged 12-29 at Studio 393.

– Assist visual art, dance and music instructors with supply preparation, workshop facilitation, and site organization.

– Communicate with and collaborate with instructors to understand workshop format, outcomes, and programming structures. This includes receiving instruction on methods and materials to convey workshop content to participants.

– Engage with participants in an attentive and supportive manner to build relationships and foster a safe learning environment for children and youth.

– Support community events by preparing activities and materials and assisting with clean-up.

– Support with cleaning and maintenance.

– Support community beautification projects including neighbourhood clean-up and community gardens.

– Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

– Must meet the Urban Green Team requirements: must be 15-29 years of age; youth aged 15 must have a certificate of completion from the Young Worker Readiness Certificate course; must be a resident of Manitoba and be legally allowed to work in Canada.

– Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, reliability and demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team, ability to take direction and work independently.

– Motivated to provide positive mentorship to children and youth.

– A strong interest in working in the arts and culture sector.

– Successful candidate will be required to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable check and child abuse registry check if over the age of 18.
