A/V & Broadcast Technician

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for a collaborative and technically skilled A/V & Broadcast Technician to join our team and help deliver exceptional live events, broadcasts, and game-day productions.

The A/V & Broadcast Technician is responsible for supporting the audio, video, and broadcast requirements for meetings, live productions, and Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose home games. Working alongside experienced professionals, this role plays a key part in delivering high-quality events while providing opportunities to further develop technical expertise.

What to be excited for in this role:

  • Prepare, set up, test, operate, and tear down audio, video, and broadcast equipment.
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of audio, video, and broadcast systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Provide technical support for meetings, live events, and game-day productions.
  • Collaborate with broadcast and A/V team members to deliver exceptional event experiences.
  • Maintain equipment and workspaces in accordance with safety standards and established procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment while continuously learning and developing technical skills.

What we need from you:

  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary program or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology is considered an asset.
  • Broadcast training certification or equivalent practical or hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up, operating, and performing basic repairs on audio and video equipment and systems.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and operating audio/video components is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, building blueprints, and riser diagrams.
  • Solid understanding of basic electronics and electrical theory; formal education in these areas is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and confidently.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working in a dynamic and fast-paced live event environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and take initiative when needed.
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional technical support and customer service.
  • Dedicated to maintaining high safety standards and following established procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as required to support live events and productions.
  • This role supports live events, game-day operations, and productions, and flexibility is essential. Candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
