Call for Board Members!

Help shape the local arts landscape, champion accessibility, expand your network and connections, gain experience in governance, strategic planning, and policy development. Advocate for arts! We have over 30 art classes each week during regular sessions, successful exhibitions twice a year and a growing creative community of all ages.

Forum Art Centre is seeking to welcome new perspectives to our Board of Directors. A grant from the Winnipeg Foundation has provided us with funding to develop new programming that will offer free, high quality art workshops to underserved youth, newcomer and low-income families and low-income seniors. To best serve these populations, we need board members that represent these communities. 

We are highly encouraging folks from one or more of the following backgrounds to consider applying:

 – Indigenous artists interested in mentoring new generations of Indigenous artists 

 – Black artists, artists from other underrepresented cultural backgrounds and 2SLGBTQ+ artists

 – Folks with lived experience as underserved youth (houselessness, poverty, CFS intervention, intergenerational trauma)

 – Newcomer parents or caregivers 

 – Low-income parents with young children 

 – Low-income seniors who can speak to this population’s needs

 – Emerging artists and recent art school graduates

Skills Required:

 – A passion for art and an eagerness to actively participate

 – Strong communication skills

 – Able to work collaboratively with others

 – Leadership and decision-making skills

 – Adaptable with shifting priorities and skilled in creative problem solving

 – Connections in the local art community and/or non-profit sector

Skills Desired:

 – Computer and digital literacy

 – Skilled in some visual arts discipline

 – Experience with strategic planning

 – Financial literacy: adept at reading financial reports and experience with budgets

 – Professional experience in any of the following fields: law, human resources, accounting, bookkeeping, fundraising and philanthropy, marketing, or community leadership.

 – Fluent French language skills would be an asset
