Hood and Dagger Productions Inc

Hood and Dagger Productions Inc. is a registered charity and not-for-profit community theatre company in Winnipeg, founded in January 2024. We produce three-show Seasons of live community theatre, specializing in thrillers, mysteries, and tales of adventure.

Winner of the 2025 “Not-for-Profit of the Year” Award, we work together to create a respectful and positive environment for our volunteer Cast, Crew, Board, and Committee members. We provide opportunities for everyday Winnipeggers to get involved in the Arts, whatever your experience level or background.

Our vision is to Build Community through Community Theatre. We aspire to create more than community theatre, but a community event, by supporting local businesses and partnering with a local charity for every show.

Manitoba - Winnipeg

Sarah Flynn

Sarah Flynn is a performer and an award winning playwright and the Artistic Associate at Manitoba Theatre for Young People. Sarah studied Theatre Performance at the University of Winnipeg, is a self-taught puppeteer, became a Baby Clown at the Clown Farm, and trained in Suzuki technique with SITI Company. Sarah has performed in theatres, schools and community centers across Winnipeg, the Manitoba Interlake, and Italy. Sarah won the Harry Rintoul Award for Best New Manitoba Play at the 2022 Winnipeg Fringe Festival for her play Whatever Happens After?. Sarah enjoys frolicking in forests, lighting things on fire, and playing with her food.

Recent performance credits include; By The Spit of Your Tongue (Buried Seeds Prod.), How To Live Forever (Hypothetical Projects), Whatever Happens After? (Naked Theatre), Teatrino (Educo Italia), Romeo & Juliet (PocketFrock Prod.), Mary’s Wedding (Theatre Projects MB).

Recent playwriting credits include; By The Spit of Your Tongue (Wpg Fringe), Whatever Happens After? (Wpg Fringe), Deuce (Wpg Fringe Monologue Slam), Little Dead Lady (IbsenFest), Luna’s Suitcase (Wpg Fringe)

When exploring a new facet of one's creativity, it helps to have a seasoned professional along for the ride with good advice and encouragement. Scriptwriters Anna Schaible-Schur and Rick Chafe recently participated in the Professional Mentorship Program and shared their experience here!

The Herdsman House in Neubergthal

The Herdsman House in Neubergthal Artist Residence and Guest House is in a national historic Mennonite Street village in Neubergthal, Manitoba, Canada. It is privately owned and operated by Margruite and Paul Krahn and has been hosting artists of various disciplines since 2015. Margruite is a visual artist, curator, and host of the Herdman House. Paul maintains the buildings and acts as soundman and technician.

With the guidance of Restoration Workshop/Parks Canada, and funding support from the provincial heritage governing body, Paul and Margruite restored and renovated the only remaining village herdsman cottage (c. 1880s) in Canada, as well as a 1927 barn into their home, studio, and 140 seat venue.

The Herdsman House facilitates space for visual artists/photographers, writers/playwrights, performing arts, musicians, educators, curators, culture and heritage.

Gwendolyn Collins

Gwendolyn Collins (she/her) is a theatre and film actor, writer, producer, devised theatre creator and the Co-Artistic Producer of One Trunk Theatre based on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has extensive experience overseeing film and theatrical projects from conception to final presentation. Having co-created many productions with One Trunk Theatre, Theatre Projects Manitoba and Green Kids Inc.

She has performed as an actor professionally for 14 years appearing on stage at Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Winnipeg Jewish Theatre and Theatre by the River. She has toured theatre shows having traveled across the prairies in One Trunk Theatre productions, PTE Munsch shows, for Green Kids Inc, RMTC rural tour and for MTYP. She has taught and facilitated theatre workshops for youth at MTYP, The Winnipeg Storytelling Festival and for Green Kids Inc. She has championed rural collaborations such as Small Town Ghost Stories with artists from Arborg and Talking Roots with artists from Pinawa, Altona, Morden and Neubergthal. Gwen is a graduate of The University of Winnipeg’s BA Honours program in theatre, and has trained with Ghost River Theatre in Calgary.
