Producing 101 with Daphne Finlayson

How does anyone get a piece of theatre off the ground? From the script to the stage, ‘Producer Daph’ will walk you through the steps to take a production from hypothetical to real. We’ll covering the nuts and bolts of bringing a show to life – building a team, gathering props and costumes, marketing and promotion, as well as how the heck anyone gets money to do this.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Daphne (she/her) is a director and creator based in Winnipeg. She is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a BA in Theatre and Film Studies. In 2022, she graduated with honours from the inaugural Red River College Digital Film and Media Production program. Directing credits include The Ghost of a Flea (Wych Elm Productions;) Prophecy (Assistant Director, Theatre Projects Manitoba); FanAddict, How to Live Forever, The Other Woman, Fashionably Late, She’s Not There, Come Together, (Art)ist (Hypothetical Projects); Inhibition Exhibition, Embracing Shadows, (Director of Photography/Editor, Village Conservatory); 12th Night: A Musical (Assistant Director, The Village Conservatory/The Keep Theatre); and It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play (Apprentice Director, RMTC). She was the recipient of the inaugural Dan Augusta Promise Prize from Sick + Twisted Theatre and received the Gladys Cameron Watt Award in the 84th National One-Act Playwriting Competition.
