Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra presents Think Sinatra… Except Fabulous Concert (Matinee)

On Saturday, April 12th and Sunday, April 13th, the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra presents two chances to experience a celebration of the legacy of jazz icon, Frank Sinatra, brought to life by Winnipeg’s own heart throb SoulBear. Get set to swoon at this flirty, fabulous and, dare we say, cheeky tribute to one of the greatest crooners of all time!

Frank Sinatra’s dynamite voice and soulful style have been setting hearts and stages on fire since 1939. Ol’ Blue Eyes is famous for generating some of the greatest love ballads and swingin’est songs ever written. Now, the WJO is set to take on Swoonatra’s lexicon of timeless tunes along with Winnipeg’s SoulBear beyond compare, David Grenon. Canadian bilingual singer-songwriter SoulBear is an exceptionally versatile and experienced musician with a powerhouse, soulful voice. Originally from Quebec SoulBear studied music interpretation at Université de Montréal, music education at UQAM and music at Campus Notre-Dame-de Foy before he started touring the world and performing with bands for over 20 years. He is more than thrilled to take on the mantle of Sinatra and show Winnipeg a thing or two about swing!

Curating this concert series falls to long-time WJO member, the truly talented sax player and song writer, Sean Irvine. Sean has some scintillating surprises in store for these performances that will have you experiencing Sinatra like never before. SoulBear and Sean are proud members of Winnipeg’s thriving 2SLGBTQ+ community and are excited to infuse these concerts with their passion for music, their ear for exciting compositions, and their drive to forge safe, inclusive, and diverse entertainment experiences for all. SoulBear, Sean and the WJO will be performing some of Sinatra’s greatest songs including Fly Me To The Moon, Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Come Fly with Me and more! Not only will this be a night of big band swing, it will also feature French jazz for all you Francophone jazz fans out there!
