Creative Accessibility is a series of online webinars and panel discussions that will explore disability art, the experiences of artists with disabilities and how to make art accessible. These workshops will be beneficial not only for emerging artists with disabilities, but artists at all levels of their career with and without disabilities.

An independent Manitoban artist shares advice, tips and warnings from almost three decades’ experience of multidisciplinary practice with emerging performative artists and creators. Covering such topics as “you gotta eat,” “let’s be realistic,” “focusing on what ya’ got,” “how to make the art happen,” Andrea covers the serious business of making art for other people and for yourself. She also shares tips on how to use chance, fate and strategic limitations to create work more efficiently and always with a view to some type of audience.

Andrea von Wichert has been lucky enough to sustain a cross-disciplinary art practice for almost three decades all the while earning her livelihood in the arts and entertainment industries. An accomplished painter and drawer, she has recently turned her hand to printmaking, which forms the core of a new body of two-dimensional work numbering in the hundreds. She has worked as a scenic artist, painter and props builder for 30 years, and is currently the Head Scenic Artist at Manitoba Theatre for Young People. She is known as a fearless performer and thought-provoking writer and orator. She has performed her spoken word internationally and has collaborated with orchestral musicians and composers, witchdoctors and various eccentric weirdoes. She has produced independent, performance and art department-heavy, short films and live-theatre. Her creative non-fiction has been published in Prairie Fire Magazine and in a number of anthologies designed to rile the patriarchy. She has spent some time studying towards a Master of Arts at the department of English, Film and Theatre at the University of Manitoba.
