MCO’s 2022 Spring Series Concerts 6-8 | Aisslinn Nosky, James Sommerville, Lucie Horsch
May 25, 2022 - June 8, 2022
After a seemingly Endless Winter,
spring has — finally! — arrived. It’s been a long time coming in more senses than one: our 2022 Spring Series marks the first time we’ve done in-person spring MCO concerts in three years. Yes, it’s been that long, and it feels incredible to be back, presenting the best of local, Canadian, and international classical music.
There are three in-person concert programs (and six performances) left in our Spring Series. Here they are:
- 7.30 pm, Wed & Thu, 25 & 26 May 2022 (online Jun 10th thru 24th) / The MCO’s Artist-in-Residence Aisslinn Nosky (“Toronto’s Eric Clapton of the violin” (Toronto Star)) is one of Canada’s foremost baroque violinists, though hardly needs introduction to MCO audiences. Here the charismatic performer will bring the house down play-conducting works by Bach, Handel, and Mozart. We’re thrilled to continue to work with her.
- 7.30 pm, Tue & Wed, 31 May & 1 June 2022 (online Jun 14th thru 28th) / Eminent French hornist James Sommerville is back to play-conduct a concert that features the Canadian premiere of Kati Agócs‘s Horn Concerto and Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3! The MCO rounds off the program with works by Brahms and Respighi.
- 7.30 pm, Wed & Thu, 8 & 9 June 2022 (online Jun 22nd thru July 6th) / A few years ago we filmed our first concert with teenage Dutch recordist Lucie Horsch. While she was relatively little known at the time, the video went viral — earning over 100K hits. We urge you to see the “latest big thing in recorder playing” (The Guardian), as she virtuosically flutters and trills her way through works by Kulesha and Bach, with additional works from Oesterle and Haydn.
These are the final three concerts of the MCO’s 2022 8-concert Spring Series. To accommodate physical distancing, we’ll be operating at reduced capacity and offering two concert options per program, on back-to-back evenings at 7.30 pm at Westminster Church. For the public’s safety, we ask that all attendees be masked and vaccinated. All in-person tickets come with access to both the in-person and online presentation, which occurs roughly two weeks after the in-person presentation. Strictly online tickets are available as well.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank audiences for the patience and solidarity they’re shown throughout the pandemic. We’re thrilled
to be reconnecting with live audiences.
