Please Join us for an afternoon workshop with Creator/ Showrunner Amber-Sekowan Daniels & Co-Producer Meg Mackay of the all-new dramatic comedy series DON’T EVEN!

Crave and APTN, in association with Pier 21 Films, Frantic Films Manitoba, and Sekowan Media, have just finished shooting the all-new dramatic comedy series, DON’T EVEN, in Winnipeg Manitoba. Don’t Even, was created by Amber-Sekowan Daniels, directed by Zoe Hopkins, and starring Leenah Robinson (1923), Victoria Turko (Burden of Truth), Joel Oulette (Trickster), Gail Maurice, and Jennifer Podemski, the six-part series is an urban Indigenous, coming-of-age story.

DON’T EVEN follows two best friends in late ‘90s Winnipeg as they grapple with their uncertain futures, in the summer after their final high school year. It’s awkward. It’s dramatic. It’s friggin’ Winnipeg.

“The show is a love letter to your childhood best friend, and your hometown. It’s about growing up and growing apart, while trying to find your place in the world,” said Amber-Sekowan Daniels, Creator and Showrunner. “We don’t often get to see Indigenous women as funny, weird, and distinct, so I hope this series shows that complexity.”

Amber-Sekowan Daniels

Amber is a mixed Anishininew screenwriter and comedian. She was raised in Winnipeg and is a band member of the Garden Hill First Nation. Amber co-created the CTV comedy Acting Good and is currently the Executive Producer, Creator, and Showrunner of the upcoming comedy series “Don’t Even” for Crave and APTN.

Meg MacKay

Meg is a stand-up comic from Prince Edward Island who is trying her best. She has written for Baroness von Sketch and This Hour has 22 Minutes. She is currently the Co-Producer of the upcoming dramatic comedy series “Don’t Even”.

With Host/Moderator Roger Boyer

Roger Boyer is an Indigenous filmmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Passionate about filmmaking, he has produced, written, directed over 15 music videos, documentary shorts, and short films. Many of these have screened at numerous film festivals around the world, including the American Indian Film Festival, imagineNATIVE Film Festival, the Accra Indie Film Festival, the Native Spirit Film Festival, and the Gimli Film Festival.

His latest short film “The Fire” had its World Premiere at the 2022 imagineNATIVE. Roger is currently working towards his feature film tentatively titled “Green Hill”. Roger is a founder of  The Winnipeg Indigenous Filmmakers Association and also a founder of Canada’s first Indigenous Film Summit.

Roger is a graduate of Capilano University’s “Filmmakers in Indigenous Leadership & Management Business Affairs” program as well as National Film Institute’s Art of Business Management 2022
