Who we are: Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers is a not-for-profit organization & registered charity dedicated to contemporary dance.

Founded in 1964, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers is Canada’s longest running contemporary dance company. The company creates, produces and presents contemporary dance with a view to advance the art form for professional artists and audiences alike.

The company presents an annual subscription series, operates the Rachel Browne Theatre, and is under the leadership of its newly appointed Artistic Director; Jolene Bailie, appointed 2019.

Who we are looking for: WCD is looking for individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience and who have a strong commitment to fulfill WCD’s mission.

Of particular interest are those with legal experience, financial, communications, and/or fundraising skills and experience. Ideally, these individuals will have board experience and strategic foresight. The WCD Board will also consider individuals with education in finance, communications, law, and fundraising who may be looking to enhance their professional experience through a volunteer role such as this.

What is involved: For Board Members, the time commitment is approximately two to four hours each month. Board meetings are held in person & online, in Winnipeg, ten times per year. These are volunteer positions with no financial compensation. Board members typically attend and/or support WCD events, are interested in promoting WCD’s events, and may be interested in assisting to develop revenue opportunities, including fundraising.
