This one-day condensed version of Creative Manitoba’s The Art of Managing Your Career course presents an in-depth overview of the practical skills you need to grow your arts and culture career! Regardless of your creative discipline, this course offers an invaluable skill-set to creative entrepreneurs, including envisioning and developing a career strategy, developing a business plan, marketing and promoting your work, bookkeeping and budgeting tips!
Instructor: Heidi Hunter lives to dye. She is a drama queen fibre artist who left the theatre to work out of her Runs with Scissors studio in Manitoba’s Interlake. There, in an oasis of colour, she hand-dyes fabrics and wearables, creates award-winning art quilts, and offers a full roster of workshops. An ‘artist’s artist’, Heidi is a gifted and experienced teacher, and a forever student. Twice a year she produces Proutopia, a weekend art market with a festival flair, and has always enjoyed promoting the arts throughout her 35 years as a professional artist on stage, and in studio. A colourful and animated speaker, she is obsessed with the creative process and invigorated by the challenges of running a successful arts business. www.runswithscissors.ca
