Patricia Bovey has contributed to Canadian visual arts as an advocate, museologist, author, gallery director, curator, professor and member of Canada’s Senate. Bovey served as director of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, as founding Director/Curator of the Galerie Buhler Gallery, and on the boards of the University of Manitoba, the National Gallery of Canada, Emily Carr University and the Canada Council for the Arts. Her recent book, Western Voices in Canadian Art, is a ground-breaking text that documents the works of artists from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia from the 19th century to the present.

Bovey will highlight the Artist’s Resale Right, which was included in the last federal budget thanks to her lobbying work in partnership with CARFAC, and BILL S-208, An Act respecting the Declaration on the Essential Role of Artists and Creative Expression in Canada.
